Peter Bremers asks, “What do you do to help yourself through these times?” and in response, he has started to post daily on his Social Media pages his own suggestions and discoveries of beautiful, creative, inspiring artists in all arenas, music, architecture, theatre, dance, culinary, painting, sculpture, literature... all the muses are included! Years ago, Peter gave us a book titled “the Gift” and it speaks about this very thing - how necessary our creative gifts are, and the value of creativity and of its importance in a culture increasingly governed by money and overrun with commodities. Whether experiencing them or actively creating, creative gifts are the adhesive that holds us together, a commentary on our culture and time. Be sure to follow his updates if you are looking at social media... it is a gift to be able to experience, even remotely, the amazing creative force that humans are capable of, and important to balance our psyche’ with positive reinforcement.

PETER BREMERS

Bremers, a Dutch artist born in Maastricht, studied sculpture at the University of Fine Arts in his home city and now lives in Einighausen. He discovered glass as a medium, rather than coming to it as an artisan and deepened the craft into art.

An exciting development is the use of glass outdoors. With his team of kiln cast experts, Bremers has found a collaboration that allows him to create large glass sculptures that can withstand the changes in temperature of different climates. To have objects outside like this, opened a whole new range of possibilities of using glass interacting with the surroundings. They flicker from transparent to translucent to opaque, jade green and clear as salt water, deep aqua weathered like sea glass or the intense fall-sky blue of an iceberg.

In his new work, the Vibrational Series, ever the explorer, Peter goes inside and echoes the energy that we all carry within and that which is all around us... he continues to suggest through his work and messages the important role that culture and arts hold in our world. Bremers is shown above with one of his sculptures titled, The Last Iceberg, an element of the environment rapidly altering. He has spoken about the intense awe he has felt, looking eye to eye with a whale in the Antarctic, and he knows — because he has seen and felt it — what the world has to lose. He has also seen the amazing magnificence and strength of Nature and the goodness and beauty of our species. Bremer’s work expresses his joy and gratitude for being part of this time.
